It is a REcyclable, BIodegradableand COMpostablefilm that has an advantage over competing bioplastics as it improves weight, densities and production costs. It is based on an enzymatic technology that is a complex of 9 main ingredients derived from vegetable by-products.
The research of the REBICOM project consists of achieving the transformation of films based on standard thermoplastic polymers of fossil or renewable origin into biodegradable and compostable films by current manufacturing methods, without losing their recyclability, reusability and harmlessness to people and the environment.
At Innovative Film Solutions we believe that Bioriented Polyethylene (BOPE) could be the solution to most of today's non-recyclable flexible plastic packaging because Polyethylene (PE) is the most innocuous, lightweight, easy to mechanically recycle and reusable thermoplastic polymer.
PE-based films used to date are manufactured by the bubble or balloon method, which limits the possibilities of physically modifying the polymer characteristics.
The in-plane biorientation of PE that we perform at Innovative Film Solutions allows us to modify the mechanical nature of the polymer, achieving products with very high resistance and rigidity similar to Bioriented Polypropylene (BOPP) films.

The present project pursues the development, in IFS facilities, of a plastic film, with a thickness between 25μ and 52μ, based on Homopolymers of Polypropylene (HPP) and copolymers of Polypropylene (CPP), manufactured with the high capacity technology BOPP, (Bioriented Polypropylene) applicable to the manufacture of postal envelope windows and as interleaver film, used for the separation of sliced food....
